IT for Dental Practices

Dental IT support for the software, imaging and connected technology your practice relies on.

A dental practice runs on reception systems, digital imaging, scanners, practice-management software, payments, phones, cloud services and security, all at once. We manage the IT around all of that, and coordinate with specialist suppliers when responsibilities overlap.

What we manage around every chairside appointment

Practice systems

Patient management environment

Workstations, browser or server access, Windows setup, printing, network connectivity, user permissions and supplier coordination around systems such as Praktika, Core Practice, OASiS and D4W.

Clinical technology

Imaging workflows

Network, workstation, storage and connectivity around VistaScan / VistaSoft and other imaging platforms, CBCT, OPG, intraoral imaging and phosphor-plate workflows, with specialist servicing handled by the equipment supplier.

Infrastructure

Networks & Wi‑Fi

Reliable wired networking, surgery coverage, staff Wi-Fi, guest Wi-Fi, VLANs, firewalling, internet and failover planning for the whole practice environment.

Cloud

Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace

Email, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, MFA, account administration and staff joining and leaving.

Protection

Security & backup

Device protection, email security, backup strategy, recovery planning, permissions and secure remote support.

Projects

New practice setup

Internet, cabling, switches, Wi‑Fi, computers, phones, cloud services and coordination with software, imaging and equipment suppliers before opening.

When the chair's ready and the system isn't

Imaging

The scanner can't reach the network

An imaging workstation that suddenly can't talk to the server, mid-appointment, is one of the worst possible times for a network fault. We treat it that way.

Wi‑Fi

Wi‑Fi drops out in the treatment rooms

Thick walls, shielding and a dozen devices per room don't mix well with a single router sitting in reception.

New surgery

A new chair, and it can't see anything

New workstations need more than a power point. Getting one properly onto your existing systems is usually where the real delay happens.

Practice software

Your software supplier needs changes only IT can make

Praktika, Core Practice and similar systems often need network or workstation adjustments that sit outside what the vendor will touch.

Cloud & email

Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace won't behave

Locked accounts, missing permissions, an inbox that's stopped syncing. Small things. They still stop a whole day.

Opening or moving

Everyone's waiting on IT before the doors open

Imaging supplier, cabler, software vendor, all needing something from each other. Someone has to coordinate it, and it's rarely anyone's job until it becomes a crisis.

We support the IT infrastructure around your dental systems. Clinical software support, calibration, compliance testing and equipment servicing stay with the relevant manufacturer, reseller or specialist provider.

Privacy, security & healthcare data

Dental practices handle health records, identity data, billing information and clinical images. We can put IT controls around that data, including multi-factor authentication, device protection, network separation, secure access, and backup and recovery.

Identity

Access control

Unique staff accounts, MFA, least-privilege permissions and prompt joining and leaving for Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace and supported systems.

Protection

Devices & network

Device protection, patching, encryption where appropriate, firewalls and separation of guest Wi-Fi from business and clinical networks.

Continuity

Backup & recovery

Backup strategy, restore planning, UPS and internet failover so a device, account or connectivity failure does not become a whole-practice outage.

In Australia, private health providers are covered by the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. NSW providers also have obligations under the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002. Eligible data breaches may fall under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme. HIPAA is a US framework and doesn't generally apply to Australian practices. We provide technical IT controls and support, not legal compliance certification.

Frequently asked questions

Can you help if we use Praktika, Core Practice, OASiS, D4W or another PMS?

Whichever practice management system you're on, we manage the workstations, internet, network, printers and accounts it needs. We coordinate with the software supplier for anything specific to the application itself.

Can you help with TRIOS, VistaScan, CBCT, OPG or other imaging systems?

We handle the workstation, network, storage and connectivity around whichever imaging systems your practice uses. Hardware faults, calibration and device-specific support stay with the equipment supplier.

Can you set up IT for a brand-new dental practice?

Getting IT involved early is what actually pays off here. Internet, cabling, network hardware, Wi‑Fi, workstations, phones, backup and security, coordinated with your practice software and equipment suppliers.

Do Australian dental practices need to be HIPAA compliant?

No, and this is a common mix-up. HIPAA is a US privacy framework, it doesn't automatically apply here just because a practice provides healthcare. Australian private health providers sit under Australian privacy law instead, with NSW practices carrying extra state obligations. If your practice genuinely has a US-regulated relationship, that's a conversation for a lawyer.

New clinic or expansion

Plan the infrastructure before the fitout locks it in.

Internet lead times, data points, cabinet location, Wi‑Fi coverage, imaging workstations and supplier requirements are all much easier to sort before opening week.
